French beat making aficionados now have their very own web show, that’s right. It’s made in Marseille and by friends on top of that. Alpha Beats is the name and it’s a great way to get up to speed with French beatmaking. Inspired by Mass Appeal’s “Rythm Roulette”, the concept is pretty simple. Guest beatmakers pick three letters out of a bag, which by the way is made by Marseille designer Dababo, each letter refers to three random vinyls. With those, they have to create a beat in a specific timing. It’s entertaining and you actually learn a lot about a beat makers’ work flow, their techniques and some useful insight along the way. Definitely a must watch if you’re remotely interested in the art of beat making and, icing on the cake, it has english subtitles.
