I’ll take whatever new Mos Def I can get and I’m sure you too. His last musical project “The Ecstatic” dropped in 2009 so it has been a while. Yassin Bey is paying hommage to the great MF DOOM “just remember all caps when you spell the man’s name” by reinterpreting seven DOOM tracks along with seven videos to compliment each joint. He called it BeyOnDoom, spelled that way because it’s Bey on DOOM and it goes beyond DOOM, get it? Clever huh. Anyway Black Dante aka Mos Def, aka Yasiin Bey partnered up with the CultureBox folks and delivered seven videos for each track, all shot in a different location of the Fort d’Aubervilliers in Paris which has been all graffitied up since the In Situ Festival. Head over to CultureBox for more and until then enjoy some, I’m sure, much deserved Mos Def below.
